Acupressure and Wellness
I recently was certified in Acupressure Therapy as a course
toward my ND, and prior to taking the course I felt like
Acupressure was a little hokey, and even more so was
Acupuncture. But I have gained a real appreciation for this
ancient therapy.
As I was taking the course, I started incorporating the points
into my massage work and into my treatments for my family. My
oldest daughter woke up vomiting one morning after I had just
learned the immune system points and nausea points - and
within an hour she was jumping all over the place and I couldn't
convince anyone that she had been sick that morning. I worked
on a lady who was coming off of her depression medication,
and she felt much better in the next two weeks, she also
practices the points at home with success. I also have worked
on fellow massage therapists who swear by the techniques as
being extremely helpful for pain relief, and detoxification. I have
not seen something this effective and this easy as a do it
yourself kind of thing, One of my required books for my class is
available to you as well from Amazon, pictured above. If you
have a desire to help yourself through a common ailment, get
this book!
I'd like to share just a few points from the last chapter of the
book, with a little Emma added. It is a simple program for
wellness using Acupressure techniques.

1st Deep breathing exercises - the breath effectively energizes
and cleanses the body - shallow breathing can't accomplish this.

Deep breathing can be accomplished in many ways -
meditation, Isometric exercise, and actual deep breathing
techniques. Those should be practiced with a professional.

2nd Stretching and daily aerobic exercise resulting in healthy
appetite, positive attitude, and increase in vitality.

Sometimes it is not the severity of the aerobic exercise that
matters - it is the breathing that gets accomplished - so don't be
afraid of yoga and tai chi, or isometric exercises as well.

3rd choose foods wisely
Well if I haven't made it clear elsewhere on this site - this will
certainly clear things up

Healthy                       Not so Healthy
Vegetables                 Processed foods
Whole Grains             White Flour
Nuts/Beans                 Salt
Tofu and Miso             Fried Foods
Fish and Seaweed      Dairy Products
Fresh Fruits                Red Meat
Chemical Additives
Coffee - any

Well - Ok - I'm not crazy about any soy products - including
Tofu, simply because they can mess with you hormones - but if
you follow  the main rule in nutrition which is MODERATION, any
food that was put here by God for human consumption is up for
grabs. A Fast Food Hamburger every day will raise anyone's
cholesterol to unhealthy levels - but once in a while is not a
death sentence
Just as Soy is a phyto estrogen and should only be used
regularly in cases of menopausal symptoms, a soy chip will not
cause a man to grow breasts. Use the wisdom that God gave
you to discern what is too much. Variety is important in all
respects.

As for the Acupressure Points for wellness, here's the simplified
version - for the real thing - read the book.

1. With Both hands behind your back at waist level - fists
formed, rub briskly on either side of the spine up and down for
about 1 minute.
2. Hold one middle fingertip up between eyebrows, above the
bridge of the nose. The other hand's fingertips at base of skull.
Tilt head back, close eyes, take 3 long deep breaths - continue
this way about 1 minute - concentrate on healing energy
entering your body.
3. Three finger widths below belly button, hold that point about
1 minute breathing deeply.
Acupressure has really helped me and the people I've touched
with it, so if you have an open mind - give it a shot - and even if
you are skeptical, There's really nothing to lose - simple, easy
techniques that can make a difference in so many issues. And
as you open your mind to these things, and try them, notice
how much better you feel, and pass it on.
